Most people thing about “work” as having a job.

A job lasts as long as your entire life, unless you get fired, quit, or get sick, right?
Examples would be working for the power company, or wal-mart. You have more stuff to do every day when you get there.

You might expect the following from a job
    health insurance
    taxes to be deducted
    continuing work indefinitely
chance to move-up in the company

Well short term contract work has a few things different.

First of all, it doesn’t keep going, it has a set amount of time, or is expected to end when a certain goal is finished.
Perhaps it’s setting up a network for a new business, or building a shed, or digging a ditch. There is a definite end-point, or they may only want to hire for a portion of the work, or even just a day!

    Another key difference is,
    No insurance or benefits
taxes might not be deducted from your pay, which means you will be liable for them yourself. This is important to contractors.
you will have to have more work lined up when it’s over.
    no advancement, no future.

    Hope this helped.

A short term contract is a legal document so to speak, it means an employer can set you on as an employee, for a short term of say a week, or longer term up to say eleven months, it depends on the duration of time you are required, you may be covering for people who are on holiday, or a person on maternity leave.

It really means that you are being employed by a company on contract rather than giving you a full time permanent job.
