I have to pick someone up at the Pittsburgh airport and I’m not familiar with it at all. Can someone explain what I have to do? Do I go to short term parking and then where do I go? The person I’m picking up doesn’t have a cell phone so I need to know exactly where people arriving come out
thanks

Although I’m not in Pittsburgh, here’s what you generally do. Park in hourly or short term parking. Go into the terminal, find the airline they’re flying with, flight number, check the screens, and it should tell you what gate they’re arriving at. Then you just go to their gate and wait. Another option would be to find out which baggage carousel the luggage from that flight will be on and just go wait over there.
Just relax, you’ll do fine.

Short term parking would be best, then the simplest thing would probably be to go to the place where the baggage arrives from incoming flights. There are usually signs that say on which carousel (or whatever it is) each flight’s baggage will be arriving.
When your person come to pick up their luggage, you will be right there.
Even if they have no luggage, airports are typically set up so that everyone goes past those baggage carousels on their way out to the rental car counters, parking lots, taxis and all of the ground transportation options.
Good luck!

Park in short term parking.
Hopefully you have the airline and the flight number.
Check the monitors to find the arrival gate for that flight.
Go to that arrival gate.
Will you recognize this person? If not, write their name on an envelope or something large so they will see their name.

Before you go:
- Get the airline and flight number from the person you’re picking up if you can. If you can’t get this information, it’s fine.
- If you do have the flight number, visit the airline’s website to check the status of the flight. If it’s been delayed, you may want to wait a little while longer before heading to the airport if it takes longer than an hour to get to the airport from your place of residence.
At the airport:
- Park in short term parking and try to make a mental note of where you’re parked.
- Enter the terminal and ask any airline employee where to go to pick up a passenger.
- PLEASE NOTE: Don’t worry about finding a gate number; you WILL NOT be able to get through security without a boarding pass anyway (after 9/11, this new rule was implemented to increase security in airports).
- Here are a ton of maps of Pittsburgh’s airport:
I hope this helps. Best of luck.
