The airport parking lot charges different rates for different lengths of time. One hour in short term parking is $5.00; additional hours are $3.00. Any car parked longer than 24 hours is charged $10.00 an hour for any amount of time exceeding 1 day. How much would a person be charged for parking in short term parking for 32 hours?
I think the answer is $154 dollars for 32 hours, right???

5 for one hour, plus 3 for 23 hours, plus 10 for 8 hours so…
3 x 23 + 10 x 8 + 5 =
69 + 80 + 5 =
149 + 5 = 154

I got $178. I charged the initial $5. Then 31 extra hours at $3/hour = 93 and another $80 for the 8 hours over a day at $10/hour. So 5+93+80=$178.
Im assuming you get charged $3/hour in addition to the $10/hour if you are over a day. If not then $154 would be correct.
